Three days in Melbourne! That’s the good news. The not-so-good news: it’s for work.
I haven’t quite got past the novelty value of international travel on work’s account, so it’s not all bad. But these trips are bimonthly at the moment, and may step up before they end. So the novelty factor has a high burn-rate.
And the closer I am to leaving the less happy I become. Tonight at dinner, Bella was arranging something for me to do in a couple days time. I had to tell her that I wouldn’t be able to: I’d be in Australia. “I’ll miss you so much Daddy”, she said, her face stricken; and getting down from the table she came around, climbed into my lap and gave me a long hug.
And you too, girl.
