It seems churlish to moan about this recent spell of hot weather, so I won’t.
But is it OK to say that it’s been peculiar?
Imagine hot days (OK, that’s “warm” days for the rest of the world) in which a fog rolls in from the sea, closing the airport and wreathing all the tall buildings in a somewhat thick and faintly fishy smelling blanket. Even when the sun eventually burns through the fog the humidity remains to remind you that as soon as the sun goes, the fog will return to claim what rightfully belongs to it.
Very atmospheric. Very hot. Very nice for a change.
