the horse blossoms in springtime

Did I mention that it’s been wet?

Particularly so, this winter. The scars of it can be seen all around Wellington, fresh slips on the road banks, and stories of land subsidence everywhere.

There’s been less rain lately, but then all that does is encourage the lawn. Oh joy.

Anyway, back at the beginning of the winter B₂ found a branch of the cherry tree that we’d cut but not chopped up for disposal. As is customary, it became her horse.

Fast forward three months, time in which it had been lying abandoned. R. noticed it again at the weekend because it seems to have rooted, budded, and blossomed in the semi-bog that is our lawn:

So, did I mention it’s been wet?
