Apple have made me very happy by allowing me to replace MusicMatch on my work PC with the lovely new iTunes for Windows, released today. It’s nice and clean and works exactly the same way as the Mac version.
Just one thing I’m wondering about: hidden away in the “Import” section of the preferences is a new option allowing the use of error correction when importing. I’m speculating, but might this option allow the ripping of copy controlled albums? Many of the copy controlled discs use deliberately introduced errors that trip up a computer’s CD-ROM, but not the average stereo, which can cope with a slightly higher error rate.
I’d be interested to hear. I’d test it out, but I refuse to buy those kinds of discs. (More on that – again – in a later posting.)
